CIH Laboratory receives Accreditation

          The Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologist (CAP) awarded accreditation to Cherokee Indian Hospital Laboratory based on a recent onsite inspection.

          The laboratory’s medical director, Wm. L. Selby, Sr., MD was advised of this national recognition recently.   Cherokee Indian Hospital Laboratory is one of more than 7,000 CAP-accredited laboratories worldwide.

          During the CAP accreditation process, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years.  CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, as well as the laboratory’s equipment, facilities, safety program and record, in addition to the overall management of the lab.  This stringent inspection program is designed to specifically ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients.

          Laboratory staff members include:  Chad Cooper – Laboratory Manager, Janet Shuler – Microbiology Supervisor, John Hughes – Hematology Supervisor, Julia Lossiah – Chemistry Supervisor, Tina Melon – Urinalysis Supervisor, Brady Davis – Blood Bank Supervisor, Glen Wolfe – Immunology Supervisor, Cheryl English – General Technologist, Juanita McCoy – Phlebotomist, and Alicia Lambert – Phlebotomist.

          Cherokee Indian Hospital officials related, “Congratulations to the staff for their achievement and thank you for all the hard work.”
