BASKETBALL: Lady Braves take Conference Title

Jackets 85-47 to take the regular season Smoky Mountain Conference Championship on Monday, Feb. 7.  Led by senior Rayna Davis who had 17 points and 7 rebounds, the Lady Braves averaged more than 20 points per period.  Cherokee led at halftime 46-23 and continued in the second half to take the win by 38 points.

Cherokee 63 Murphy 59

            The Lady Braves edged the Murphy Lady Bulldogs 63-59 at home on Thursday, Feb. 3.  Cherokee jumped out to an early 16-4 lead and led at halftime 33-22.  They were able to hold off a late Murphy run to take the game by four points.

Cherokee 53 Andrews 28

            The Lady Braves defeated the Andrews Lady Wildcats 53-28 at home on Friday, Feb. 4.  The Lady Braves jumped out to an early 15-2 lead and led at halftime 33-16.  Scoring slowed in the second half by both teams, but Cherokee still outscored Andrews 20-12 and took the win by 25 points.
