Shorty (John) Kirkland
Shorty (John) Kirkland, 47, of the Wilmont Community, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, August 16, 2010 in a Jackson County Hospital. A Native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Charles and Dolly Dover Kirkland. He had been employed as a truck driver. He was a loving father, son, brother, and big paw. He was preceded in death by a brother, General Kirkland and a grandchild, Melanie.
He is survived by 3 Children- Maria Kirkland of Morganton, NC, Dustin Kirkland of Wilmont, and Natasha Kirkland of Bryson City; four Grandchildren; three Sisters- Rose Harris of Bryson City, Mary Kirkland of Waynesville, and Donna Hardison of Whittier.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Friday at Bethebara Baptist Church. Burial will be in Wilmont Cemetery. The body will be taken back to the church at 4:00 p.m. Thursday by Crisp Funeral Home to await the service hour.Rev. Mike Moore will officiate.
