Russell D. Lambert

Russell Daniel Lambert, 94, of Boyce, Virginia, died Sunday, August 8, 2010 in a local nursing home.

Mr. Lambert was born February 25, 1916 in Jackson County, North Carolina, the son of Samuel Carson and Sarah Emalin Passmore Lambert.

He had worked for the Smoky Mountain National Park Service and then retired after 30 years with the Federal Government.

He served as a Corporal in the U. S. Army Air Corps during WWII.

He was a Tribal Member of the Eastern Board of Cherokee Indians and also a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

He was married to Virginia Mae Ward Lambert. Mrs. Lambert died n September 28, 2004.

Surviving is a daughter, Sharon L. Winsatt of Strasburg, VA; 2 sons, Russell Kevin Lambert of Boyce, VA and George Gary Lambert of Frederick County, VA; six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Mr. Lambert was the youngest of 11 children.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A. M. Friday, August 13, 2010 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Winchester, VA. Burial will be private.

Arrangements are being conducted by the Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville, VA.
