Carolyn Marshall Rose – Obituary

Carolyn Rose, a resident of Whittier, North Carolina, passed away at home on April 21, 2010. Born July 9, 1934 in Gastonia,  North Carolina, Carolyn was a loving mother of five children and a devoted wife to retired USAF Major Donald E. Rose.

                Carolyn and Donald were blessed with a happy married life for 58 years. Carolyn was an Air Force wife, a red cross volunteer and a member of the American Business Women’s Association .  She resided in nine different states during her husbands military service; including Omaha, Nebraska, Honolulu, Hawaii and Warrenton, Virginia before moving to Western North Carolina in 2006. Carolyn loved to entertain her many friends and family, was a wonderful cook and had a great sense of humor.

                Carolyn is survived by her husband Donald Rose, her children Donna (Andrew) Rose Dubinskas of Acworth, Georgia, Jeffrey (Judy) Rose of Warrenton, Virginia, Beth (Jerry) Rose Miratsky of Buford, Georgia, Robert (Michelle ) Rose of Goldvein, Virginia and Leslie (Phillip) Rose Kalen of Morristown, Tennessee. 14 grandchildren 5 great grandchildren,  one brother Tommy Greene of Morristown, Tennessee.  Also, many sister and brother-in-laws and many, many loving nieces and nephews of Cherokee and Western North Carolina.

                Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Lura Mae Daniels of Gastonia, NC.

                The family wishes to thank her many caregivers over the recent years for their dedicated and loving service.

                A visitation for Carolyn Rose was held Friday, April 23, 2010 at the Long House Funeral Home from 6 – 8pm. The funeral service followed on Saturday April 24, 2010 at 2pm at the Long House Chapel, Rev. Percy Cunningham officiated. Internment followed at the tranquility Ridge Cemetery on Lindsey Lane in the Birdtown Community of Cherokee.
