Lady Braves Soccer is back in action

The Cherokee Lady Braves hosted the Swain Lady Maroon Devils for their first soccer match of the season on Tuesday, Mar. 9.  The Lady Braves, coached by Lydia Burke and assistant coach Matt Martens, lost 6-0.
 

The first half saw the Lady Devils take control and score five goals split between Meghan Gilchrist, Mykaela Bielecki and Shay Marceau.  Swain’s first goalcame as from a direct kick across the front of Cherokees goal. 
 

The Lady Braves came back in the second half playing defense and held Swain to just one more goal.  Playing a bit more aggresively, the Lady Braves attacked Swain’s goal, but were unable to get any into the back of the net. 
 Both teams were awarded a penalty kick in the second half, but neither were able to take advantage of the opportunity.
 

Cherokee’s next game will be Monday, Mar. 22 at Swain at 4:30pm.
 

The lineup for the Lady Braves includes: Micala Arach, Destiny Badillo, Kayla Bigmeat, Elle Bradley, Katlin Bradley, Tasia Brady, Kelsey Crowe, Madison Crowe, Karyl Frankieqicz, Amber Ledford, Victoria Locust, Chelsea Martinez, Maria Morales, Jessica Owl, Natasha Pheasant, Alejandra Quinones, Karleigh Reeves, Cheyenne Smith, Crystal Waldroup, Rebecca Walkingstick, Nicole West, Alicia Whiteside, Kyndra Wiggins, Megan Wilnoty, Nancy Wolfe and Sabrina Wooten.
 

The lineup for the Lady Devils includes: Megahn Gilchrist, Nina Posey, Katling Roberts, Mykaela Bielecki, Athena Arakansas, Kirstein Parker, Hannah Christoph, Shay Marceau, Jena, Billie Hammonds, Sydney VanWenden and Cholsey Nations. The Lady Devils are coached by Joel Sasscer and assistant Amanda Posey.
