Braves season over after 1st Round Loss

The Cherokee Braves varsity basketball season drew to a close on Monday, Feb. 22 following a loss in the 1st Round of the Sectional Playoffs.  Cherokee lost 78-67 to the Murphy Bulldogs in a game that went down to the wire. 

Cherokee was led by Greg Bradley and Tre Owle with 17 points each followed by J.T. Wildcat with 16.  Murphy had four players in double digits including:  Cody Allen 16, Ryan Cook 16, Zack Lovingood 15 and Justin Sneed 11. 

The game was just about even in the first period with the Bulldogs leading 22-20 after the first eight.  Murphy extended its lead to 45-31 at halftime, but the Braves came back in the third period and outscored the Bulldogs 24-12 and only trailed by two (57-55) going into the final period. 

Murphy outscored Cherokee 21-12 in the final eight minutes to take the win and advance. 

Other Cherokee scorers included:  A.J. Crowe 4, Tsaladi Sequoyah 7, and Tyler Williams 6.
